During her time with 2NE1, she always wore her hair fairly short. That short hair quickly became her identifying trait; if anyone in the group had short hair, you knew it was Minzy. But since ‘Comeback Home’ and during her solo activities, she’s let her hair grow longer than before. For today’s topic, we will discuss Minzy’s short & long hair. Are you ready to see the difference? Well then, without any further ado, let’s get into our topic for today!
Short Hair
Let’s start by taking a look at her iconic short hair, which was her trademark look. Ever since her debut with 2NE1, she always kept her hair a short length. Here is the timeline of her short hair. Check it out!
Fire
Minzy debuted in the group in 2009, with a song called ‘Fire’. It was a huge success, they even called the rookie monster during that time. Her appearance was one of the most eye-catching ones among the group, since she was the only member to wear her hair short. Here are some pictures of her during the ‘Fire’ era: A few of the members of Big Bang made a cameo appearance in the street version of the ‘Fire’ music video. Here an the example, where G-Dragon and Minzy are together in one frame.
Lollipop
‘Lollipop’ was a collaboration song between 2NE1 and Big Bang, done in 2010. Usually YG artists like to play up their dark and cool side, but in this song they show more of a colorful and energetic side. In this era, Minzy’s short hair remains with the same color and style it had during the ‘Fire’ era.
Try To Follow Me
The song ‘Follow Me’ was originally a CF for Samsung’s Corby, and was first released on February 9, 2010. Since the song was very popular, an official music video was finally created on March 11, 2010. For ‘Follow Me’, Minzy dyed her hair a lighter brown color. It was also a bit wavy in some scenes from the video. For the example, take a look at the picture below. You can see that Minzy’s hair is wavier than before.
It Hurts
Produced by e.knock and Sunwoo, ‘It Hurts’ was an R&B song that was released as the seventh single from their debut album ‘To Anyone.’ The group’s first performance of this song was around September 28, 2010, on ‘Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook’. In the music video, Minzy still wore short hair but this time she dyed it a dark red color. Her hair was also styled to look like a doll’s, where her hair looked so pointy on both sides. Take a look at the photo below, do you think Minzy looks like a beautiful doll that came alive as a human?
I Love You
This was a comeback for 2NE1 in 2012, with a pop song that was mixed with a bit of R&B and a little bit of ballad. For this era, Minzy had various hairstyle and colors. Let’s check them out below! We can see from the picture above, that Minzy was rocking straight hair with a super-dark purple color which is almost looked black. The hair in front also looks more long and pointy at the ends. Next, she rocks the ‘Cleopatra hairstyle’ look, a long bob with the bangs cut so they are shorter on the sides and longer in the middle, forming a point between her eyebrows. In the last picture, Minzy has straight, light brown hair. She also has this hairstyle during the ‘I Love You’ MV. Take a look at the picture below.
